Fathers and Sons

Fathers and sons By Michelle Morris 21/11/2022 It was cold there in his shadow Fathers and sons struggle with their roles He didn't support your sensitivity You always felt he was a bully so cold You lost yourself in drugs for years Couldn't face your responsibilities Didn't realise he was no angel Until he killed someone so dear Run, run for your life Fast, fast as lightning strikes Free, free from all those ties Run, run, from all those lies And now he's imprisoned by his greed All his evil and murderous deeds You got out and you got clean It's time to face the world is real Hitching rides and riding trains Keeping your life off the rails It may seem lonely and wild But it gives you courage to be true Run, run for your life Fast, fast as lightning strikes Free, free from all those ties Run, run, from all those lies Maybe one day you'll settle down Meet someone sweet in a one horse town Picket fences and mowing lawns You'll write your own family story Teach your kids about love and joy How much kindness makes us whole Heal your heart and heal your soul Everyone can be their own hero Run, run for your life Fast, fast as lightning strikes Free, free from all those ties Run, run, from all those lies Run, run for your life Fast, fast as lightning strikes Free, free from all those ties Run, run, from all those lies © Michelle Morris, 2022
