Father Time's Pendulous Tongue

It's often said that time flies like the wind If not used, it's something we can't rescind Father Time is quite old His hands we cannot hold His incessant movement leaves us chagrined The annoying sound of his tick-tocking is tiresome in the language of clocking His pendulum tongue swings but it should be wrung for it seems to be wagging and mocking I wonder why he never seems to age Perhaps he could be convinced to assuage Or I'll take him apart Drop him off at Walmart Better yet, I'll murder him in a rage

Stunning creativity displayed here. The whole poem and your "funny bone lines" are so well conceived, tweaked, conveyed, and rhymed to a tee! You portray knowledge and intelligence Jenna!...ab

Poor old Father Time, he really is our greatest friend and enemy all at once, a man made construct or cosmological entropy, methinks the former. Nothing happens for what seems an eternity, then all hell breaks loose, love your interpretation Jenna, witty and intelligent simultaneously in time, cheers David

Yes, true and all at once we seem to be inundated with problems. Thanks, David.

Oh enjoyed! However possibly not intended, I could not help but think about the difference between how men and women are perceived to age in our society. Great penning. xomo

Yeah, ain't that a kick in the pants. Women wrinkle and sag and men are said to become distinguished. Stinks.

I think we all have that love hate relationship with 'Ol father time Jenna and as you get older it seems to speed up even faster and as you say we shouldn't waste it because we never get that lost time back. Tom

He is a bit rash when we would like his hands insist on running quicker than we'd like, and then takes forever to gong another hour when our lives are fine the way they are.
