Father Christmas
Father Christmas had lost track of his years.
But no matter, for he knew other things.
He knew that some children have Christmas fears.
So he used a tinkling bell to announce his arrival with a ting-a-ling.
The children knew his reputation, and followed him around.
He had gifts for them in his pocket, and he gave a happy sound.
He was Father Christmas, December’s good bye for the year.
He did the best he could to alleviate every child’s fear.
