Fast Forward
They keep on running;
feet pounding on the floor, the stairs, everywhere!
I tell, no yell, at them to stop, but do they?
They keep it up, not thinking of consequences.
One day soon, something will break,
this, I know for sure.
If not something in the house,
then one of them will get hurt.
Maybe then, they will learn,
but, for now I continue to yell.
Fast forward!
I miss the sounds of their feet;
the pounding, the unnerving beat
as they run up and down the stairs.
Just yesterday, I was telling them,
no yelling, for them to stop.
But today, if only those sounds
could repeat and play back.
I long for the days of children running
and being just who they are, children!
