Farewell to summer, daily bringing heat Arrivederci, warmth, I'll miss you so Reluctantly, I bid adieu to waves Enjoyed in balmy weather, thanks to you Waving goodbye to toes bathed in a stream Extending elegies of wakened dream Lost to a frigid blast of autumn's gale Laughing - to know that you'll be back next year Written 8 Oct 2020

While I won't miss the 'balmy' weather (it's been a little too balmy for me!) I like your nostalgic wink to the last days of summer, especially love the line 'Extending elegies of wakened dream' - should do well!

Yes, I admit sometimes summers can get a bit too 'summery'! Grateful for your generous words, Michelle.

Head and tail acrostic, very clever John, not easy to come up with that, yet your poetry brings out the subject so well, one could almost be within the poetry itself.

Thank you kind sir, for your insightful comment. So feel that you are within the poetry is perhaps the highest compliment one can receive. I feel this one deeply because I dearly miss summer when it is over.

Well penned and presented, John. Even though I like Autumn, I too hate to see summer go. Have a great night. :)

I think you speak for many of us, Angie. Summer has that certain magic that we all seem to resonate with.

what an excellent poem, John ,putting the rest of the phrase over to the far right. Genius idea. I love the words. I too feel this way every time fall arrives.
