Farewell To Our Yesterdays
Farewell to the yesterdays we once shared,
and memories that have me feeling blue.
From crying rivers of tears, I'd not been spared
when I knew I had to say 'goodbye' to you.
Adieu to romantic stargazing nights in Spring
when we planned what our future would hold.
Naked, my finger that wore your wedding ring,
that symbol of love we vowed; a circle of gold.
Goodbye to Summer dreams since love is gone.
Ours were ill-fated, never meant to come true.
My heart is yearning for his passion, withdrawn,
as my world comes tumbling down and left askew.
Adios to walks in Fall, among brittle crimson leaves
and cool days of Autumn when love came unraveled.
Like broken threads in seams, my sad heart grieves,
recalling all the things we did wherever we traveled.
We were fragile crystals, tumbling in Winter snow
but as if burned by the sun, your love melted away.
Our yesterdays will linger in me, this much I know,
for I vowed to love you forever, until my dying day.
