Farewell To Our Yesterdays

Farewell to the yesterdays we once shared, and memories that have me feeling blue. From crying rivers of tears, I'd not been spared when I knew I had to say 'goodbye' to you. Adieu to romantic stargazing nights in Spring when we planned what our future would hold. Naked, my finger that wore your wedding ring, that symbol of love we vowed; a circle of gold. Goodbye to Summer dreams since love is gone. Ours were ill-fated, never meant to come true. My heart is yearning for his passion, withdrawn, as my world comes tumbling down and left askew. Adios to walks in Fall, among brittle crimson leaves and cool days of Autumn when love came unraveled. Like broken threads in seams, my sad heart grieves, recalling all the things we did wherever we traveled. We were fragile crystals, tumbling in Winter snow but as if burned by the sun, your love melted away. Our yesterdays will linger in me, this much I know, for I vowed to love you forever, until my dying day.

All goodbyes are sad, but the end of a marriage is especially hard, I feel. Very lovely poem. Congratulations.

A sad reflective piece Jenna, some people never fully get over a lost love, one can feel the pining pour from your page, with no resentment or anger, just pure heartbreak remembering the seasons spent together, another excellent poem from your creative imagination, cheers David

That ache and sense of "what could've been" remains in the heart. Thank you for the compliments, David.

Exquisite images of a love lost, well-penned with the perfect rhythm and rhymes. But, typical for your poems, Jenna...so finely-tuned. This is such good writing. I loved how you worked the seasons through it. It could have been called "Seasons of Love."
