Family Function

Does politeness in your family well up like a seed in jagged rocks in the tundra night? Do manners brew in the black cauldron with garlic, onions and eye of newt? Does your family season its conversation with gallons of salt, while forgetting to add sugar? Would you rather season your conversation with extra hot ghost pepper sauce? Does your family function like a Mentos that has been stuck inside a bottle full of Coke? Or maybe your family function is like vinegar and baking soda mixed in a blender? If that is your family welcome to broken, welcome to the ashes, and the dawning of a traumatic normal.

Families and family issues can boil up at these occasions - and some times you can't choose not to attend these events - personally I would rather be with friends lol:-) excellent ink Miranda - poetry is so cathartic - my yesterday poem is about my sibling !!!!

My friends are often a welcome break from my family, well more exactly my husband's family. It really is about distance from drama.

I am so glad my family is not this way. We had a few spats in our time but nothing ever broke us apart or caused us hatred. So sad that my husband's was more like what you describe here.

This is my husband's family, well my specific generation, to be most exact. It is sad when family's don't really function.

Not my family, but know many like your poem describes. Intriguing poem, Miranda, thanks for sharing. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

This poem is a rant, and I am not sure if it qualifies as poetry or not. I won't say my whole family is like this but some people are harder than others. I was told to follow up with a healing poem.
