Familiar Tunes
Familiar Tunes
Wait ‘til it’s time
Don’t rush it
Stay a while
Ruffle the sheets and wiggle your toes
A dark horse running through the fields
Into the woods
A dog chasing a frisbee through forest trees
Birds flying high above in glee
Find and connect pieces in the room
Wander upon familiar tunes
The scent of sweet perfume
The train is approaching
Headed somewhere
Hop on and claim a chair
Sidewalk chalk
Sprinklers
And bubbles everywhere
They do not fear
The other realm
They’re wild, vivid and alive
Those that died
With whom I shared a house
Reaching out into the clouds
A mighty strength revived
A smile
A warm embrace
A vision upon a face
Patterns, continuity
I know what I see
No word can describe
No breath can breathe
The calm comfort
Of life slipping away from me
