Fame, Glory and Fortune

Sluggin’ Sammy Sosa socked 609 home-run rockets
Mark McGwire built paranormal ‘popeye arms’

Bodacious Barry Bonds broke beloved Babe Ruth’s records
‘Stars on steroids,’ they did baseball considerable harm

But the time has passed for licking old wounds
Wily players uncover new ways to cheat

Winning’s never everything; it’s always the only thing
Fame, glory and fortune too soon take wing

Well said. I for one say they should have their own section in Cooperstown with many asterisks. Finally allowing Pete Rose to have a chance at getting in. A long time coming. I see the new Pope is a White Sox fan and was wearing a cap in Vatican Square

agree, winning isn't everything...some don't measure the cost, both short-term and long-term Wisdom in your words, Yellow Rose
