False People

To the devil they bow, soul they defile
In a battle chosen come to defend
An evil incarnate, a pedophile
For this old demon, weakened knees will bend
They pray to their God before sleep each night
Defend an unrighteous man when they rise
Turn away from teachings known to be right
Bow to an idol their votes will comprise
With biblical words, they read from a book
To try and hide unreasonable fault
To serve their new masters which they mistook
Sacred vows to their soul they now insult
To sell your soul for an idol of gold
An old and ancient betrayal foretold

Hi Frederick, exposing and exploring the dark side which inevitably becomes a pit. My beef is qith corporations, politicians and the church The deceptions they bring traps us. I love your originality and hard hitting theme and its hell for leather style. Cheers Jannie

I agree with the commenter below, why some even worship themselves when they should remain silent, in words, not name. Many wear false hoods. Great write!

Sad reality for so many, a powerfully truth sonnet... Sometimes it is better to remain silent than to preach falsehood...

That's the absolute worse kind of idol worshippers..ones who misquote the Bible, claiming to be righteous, but only to suit their diabolical meaning. There's no hiding their faults from God. I applaud you like Jan did for posting this sonnet. Maybe it'll get the notice it deserves.
