False Hope
Each push of the deal/draw button
brings another false hope.
What do you see on the screen?
Four cards of the same suit.
Hoping for a flush,
the odd card is expunged.
What do you get next?
Any type of card you don’t need.
It’s always one card from glory.
Each new bet is a try in vain.
You don’t want to walk away,
even though a voice inside says yes.
That big win may be next.
Yet again, there’s another false hope.
