False Apologies Are Insulting

When I have wronged someone in word or deed
and know that I should make amends, I heed
my OWN advice: Don’t wait. Apologize.
I know, “I’m sorry--BUT . . .” is never wise!
That small word turns apologies to lies,
for then will likely come words that enflame,
implying that the other one's to blame
for my wrongs. Did that person hurt me too?
Perhaps "I'm also sorry" will ensue.

Congratulations on your win. WOW!!! A "Lovely" write. I love this one and it is so very true. Years ago, I was told to say "I am sorry." I asked, "What have I done or said that I need to say I am sorry???" They would not tell me of anything. Then I said "why am I saying sorry???" They could not say why I should. I found out later they were jealous of me. I let go and I let God handle it. Have a great/blessed day.......................

THANKS so much, Paula! I have to feel sure I'm wrong before I'll apologize. As I said, I don't put "But" in an apology! Janice

I'm taken by your sage advice, i.e., No saying 'I'm sorry, but...' Great! Congrats on your win in the contest, Janice. Best wishes, Gershon

I can only echo the sentiments of great wisdom, Janice. I have been the victim of many insults from time to time that I joke about it.
