Fall's Silenced Soliloquy

Desperation clings to the branch Wrestling with a frightened leaf Begging a howling wind for more Wondering why one leaf would fight The wind abates, she sits alone Desperation clings to the branch Weeping in the hoar frost darkness Beneath a cold, uncaring moon Where had the color gone, the songs the nesting birds, chirping crickets Desperation clings to the branch In Fall’s silenced soliloquy An inexperienced drummer A rattling of untrained sticks Counting coup on Winter’s coming Desperation clings to the branch

a masterful Soliloquy, John. I liked how you repeated the line, "Desperation clings to the branch..." reminds me a bit of Shakespeare and the soliloquays he wrote. Seriously. Now, I, like fall am wondering 'where did all the color go?" Marvelous and am faving this one, blessings, Sara

Thank you Sara. I appreciate the fave and the kind words. The repetition of the line and its placement are part of the Quartern form. As to where the color went...I think they use it to make Santa's outfit.
