Falling and Rising

Sitting on a chair facing a barred door, Awaiting trial, although a minor charge. His life was ruined, what had he in store? Was sure the judge would his sentence enlarge. Pleaded guilty but not for the car theft. He fancied a joy ride on the highways Allowed his common sense just go bereft. Cold judge decreed a fine or thirty days. An angelic lass was in love with him. She gladly paid the fine to escape jail. The judge agreed knowing 'twas but a whim Found a job and see that he do not fail. He succeeded and soon his lesson learned And in quick time her heart he quickly earned.

Good that a one in a lifetime mistake was handled in such a good way. I hope that life continues to offer him hope and confidence in himself so that he doesn't make the same mistake again. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

GREAT to see you writing a sonnet Victor. One never knows how an act of kindness can affect another. Most of the time, Id like to think it a positive experience. Nice write Victor.

Act of goodwill earns love. I like your story, Victor--especially the turn in ending lines.

Thus everything ended up so well though started on a gloomy note. His punishment was abated and he won his lady love!

Prisons are filled enough, perhaps the judge just needed another cup of coffee or woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

It was a minor offence, nobody was injured and he should have just been fined not threatened with jail time, sometimes prison can make people worse. Tom

Judges really should show more discretion, than just locking people up for minor offences, we all need a second chance in life where appropriate, nicely written, cheer’s David

Proof a leopard can change its spots - and prison is not always the best option in so many cases - what an uplifting ending Victor:-) hugs Jan x

Yes, like Jo said, Love can surely change a person... Jesus love is the love that brings real change. This reminds me of a boy I knew in my teens who stole a car for a joyride. God bless you friend. Love, Gina
