Fall From Grace a Roundel

Before the beginning of time when Chaos ruled Hell and Night
Into the depths of this Cosmos, a Paradise, perfectly placed.
Above this darkness, a heaven drawn forth in a burst of light
Before the beginning of time

From the Garden of Eden, henceforth, Adam and Eve were disgraced
Lo! A fallen angel changed himself to a serpent in Eve’s sight
Banished, they fled before God to a wilderness, forever displaced.

Forbidden fruit had shown them the difference of wrong from right.
In Pandemonia, Demons conspired, sin and death be interlaced.
God sacrificed his Son to save them - from Hell's eternal plight.
Before the beginning of time

Wow, this is good telling. The first poem I posted on poetrysoup was Fall From Grace :)

You re-tell the biblical narrative with musical cadence and effortless rhyme ... excellent choice of refrain, as it's a "beyond our comprehension" sort of thought. I've never heard of roundel before, but I've written rondeau and rondel, and I can see the similarities. It seems like every form of French poetry I've heard of uses heavy repetition and only A and B for the rhyme scheme.

Hi Tim: that's the wonder of being here. This was the first time I tried this form myself. It is amazing to discover and try all the different forms and where they lead you and most of all to have encouragement from friends like you. Hugs, SuZ

I clicked on your best poems and saw this oldie but goodie that I responded to back in 2013. You did so well with this poetry form. I can't say I did this kind before, but it is so similar to Rondeau, which I have written many of.

Hi Andrea: I see I never replied to your comment. Before they started email notifications I think a lot of times I used to just visit the poet because you wondered if they ever saw your responses. That feature has helped a lot with feedback and interaction. Hugs, SuZ

I don't have a clue as to how to write a Roundel...This is flawlessly done. I was so spell-bound by the name 'Pandemonia' that I went on the internet to look it up to see if it was the actual name of a place and found no such name, which tells me it came straight from that mind of yours...Awesome - Tim

Dear Xegrakio POETESS, S-N, S u Z, I had to look up Roundel, but I did not find the form. I see by the refrain "Before the beginning of time" that it is sort of a half Villanelle. Is the Pharse anything like "After the end of Eternity"?? I do not know Suzette that well so I wish YOU a Good Talent WIN.I LOVE YOU ALWAYS and FOREVER YOUR S-P, Loyal Liege...HG Same P.S. as last comment. LOVE YOU ALWAYS and FOREVER...Harry
