It didn’t happen at the right time I wasn’t his – he wasn’t mine But, despite the dangerous passion Fires ignited and we felt the longing For the dance, - taking a chance Uncertain and unsure, burdened With shame, guilt and humiliation All the feelings that come from carrying A torch for someone whose heart Isn’t vacant, whose love is already taken It didn’t happen when we were free So we left each other with only a feeling Emotions that colored our lives in hues Forbidden love, constrained our desires Snuffed out the fires that stirred inside Erasing every doubt that we could share Our hearts, our dreams, our hopes… The beauty of a love, vulnerable and true Exposing only the joy that comes from knowing The wonder of two hearts uniting, contriving To build a life for two – share our dreams with… Someone in the heart – who is loved fully With a love that only comes alive for those Who listen to the soul stirring light, the yearning Breathing, aching… for love that is making Two hearts feel more alive than any feeling ever has!
