Faith Transcends Fear
Residing in the deepest crevices of self-doubt
Where dark shadows shroud the damaged identity
Fear, like a disease that suffocates, cripples the soul,
Languishes within the breast, tightening the cords
That stifle freedom, threatens to render creative
Approaches to a myriad of life quandaries mute.
Fear, the most appalling way to approach the future,
Continually casts a gray pall over hope’s morrow
Blunting the realities of hope and promise, merciless,
Making one helpless to cultivate peace and serenity.
Placing one’s faith in a higher power; perhaps, casting
Oneself into the consoling arms of a benevolent spirit
For guidance and direction when confidence wanes
Can, with practice, thwart the stabbing pangs of fear.
