FAITH IN GOD WHO STRENGTHENS US
God strengthens us in our distress
Toward prayerfulness against stress
So we can dwell by faith in His safeguarding fortress
Away from doubt-filled mattress.
God strengthens us in our sin-caused lamenting
Toward His forgiveness of sanctification-setting
So we can respond by faith to His divine inviting
Away from fears’ grievous besetting.
God strengthens us in our holiness-fight
Toward victory against temptations that smite
So we can soar by faith along His deliverance-height
Away from unbelief’s attacking dynamite.
God strengthens us in our Scriptural practice
Toward good testimony of righteousness-expertise
So we can declare His love by faith midst His justice
Away from apathy of pride’s notice.
God strengthens us in our sincere desire
Toward ministry-involvement of soulwinning fire
So we can serve Him by faith with His mercies that inspire
Away from pursuits that lead to lustfulness-mire.
God strengthens us in our weakness
Toward diligence that conquers slothfulness
So we can cleave to Him by faith despite weariness
Away from hurts of disobedience and rebelliousness.
God strengthens us in our limitation
Toward trust in His power against downfall’s frustration
So we can enjoy by faith His eternal assurance of salvation
Away from destruction of guilt’s condemnation.
