Failing the Truth
Failing the truth caused by deceitful heart
I do pray for illumined vision glow
radiating light of Scriptures’ rampart
toward perspective against falsehood blow.
Confessing personal biases’ blight
failing the truth caused by deceitful heart
I seek God’s pardon from arrogance-delight
gripped by selfishness-hypocrisy dart.
Aware of preference right from the start
I do admit own vested interest
failing the truth caused by deceitful heart
thus, trusting the Lord’s guidance is still best.
Respecting others through Christ’s love in view
my spirit reaches out for grace impart
striving not to wear vain empathy shoe
failing the truth caused by deceitful heart*.
*Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
