Fading Light
Did you shine bright,
star bright,
in your brief sky of time?
Did you have a stellar afterglow
once you departed
and vanish like melted snow?
Did your life leave an indelible mark,
a blazing comet trail
in the all enveloping dark?
What composition did your death bring,
was it the same song
that a supernova sing?
Now that your light is fading away,
what magnitude was it yesterday?
Now that your light is dimming down,
will any residue of your life be found?
As your fading light
recedes into the dying night
Will your soul still keep burning bright?
Only God, who sees all, knows
whether He'll snuff out the light
still emanating from your soul
As your fading light
recedes into the dying night
Pray that your soul keep forever burning bright
