“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” It’s a quote routinely attributed to Edmund Burke. But it turns out falsely so. Apparently, he never uttered these words. At best, the essence of the quote can be traced back to the utilitarian philosopher John Stuart Mill, who delivered an 1867 inaugural address at the University of St. Andrews and stated: “Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”

Oh the irony that spewing fake news is followed by a fake quote. Beware , evil exists in all forms, being a good man, I had to speak up and defend Truth

Fact Or Fool Who be You

I have seen
fools ranting 
what's up Pink Floyd
No thinkers, no education 
only poets with muse and frustration

The deniers of science
are committing massive crimes
jail should be their only pudding
sadly Covid takes many of them away
I have no sympathy for their ignorant play

the only ones bouncing in their beds
are the scientists
angry that such ignorance spreads
it's always the morons who resist

why do people carry such hate?
to tell lie upon lie upon loathing lie
letting thousands more in pain die
the penitentiary should be their fate

American prejudice has failed us
funding is ever lacking
Teachers who know not what's cracking
No wonder fools get away with the fuss

Science does not cover up
it only learns, adapts and that's a must
over six billion vaccines
thousands of doctors have over seen

The outbreaks now you see
are the unvaxxed injected with stupidity
they blame all the immigrants
hatred always blames the outsider

All in all, stupidity is never very tall

Excellent poem, Arthur! So glad you tackled this subject. These non-vaxers call it their freedom, yet it's actually their selfishness. No concern for anyone but themselves. Why are "news" sources allowed to tell lies and still be called news! You last line is perfect!

Great poem, congrats to POTD, Arthur, i do agree with you. As always in conflict, the real reason behind what we in the world is experiencing, the initial source of the problem is forgotten, which suits those guilty, while the rest of the planet cannot agree and continue fighting.

When nurses reveal that patients are being killed in the hospitals, there is truth to that, I think they are pushing only certain drugs, when other drugs can treat Covid as well, Congrats on POTD Arthur

There is too much inconsistancy 1st off science led Boris Jhonson says in 2020 96/97 percent survive I have not seen that dis-proven then there was the jingoistic 1 death is 1 death too many' but more than 1 have died in the UK from vax complications 'Lisa Shaw' for 1 Not widely reported though she was a media journalist I see that Many want better I see the desire to be responsible by most Yet I am concerned that 4000 docs are vax sceptical, I hope I am wrong but there was 2jabs your'e OK claim Never a hint that it was time limited? First who is "they"? There is massive competition world wide to come up with effective vaccines or antibodies. No one company or country controls the market. As for nurses killing people, not sure I get that, however as an example one nurse was caught injecting patients with water rather than the vaccine because she was nuts and didn't believe in science. Yes she was killing people.

I question your use of "being killed in the hospitals," Joseph; shouldn't it be "patients are dying in hospitals?" That is certainly true. I find it hard to even suggest that patients "are being killed in the hospitals," my friend.

It is unfortunate that so many people believe everything they read and hear. I worry about the metal health of so many people. Our doctor has kept my family alive for many years. I listen to and trust my doctor. I wish more would do the same. Well done Art!

Those who deny that science is factual are actually blind to the truth. Some have a beef against pharma companies, and that's their right, but I'm tired of them trying to fill my mind with their thoughts. I don't want to dissuade them from making their own choice, but for goodness sake...stop addressing me in poetry that tries to make me feel inept. Teachers, what example do you set for students? Those thinking you're in the know, are you incapable of respecting the beliefs of others? Give it a rest!

Yes well said, and is ok to debate and discuss say how to roll out vaccines, what health measures to take, how one goes about health measures, all reasonable issues and discussions to which to be quite frank, as societies, we are learning, but denying science and how both Viruses propagate and how vaccines work is rather silly, when is by people with no education in those fields.

That is true in life, someone else is always the blame. It is a shame that there are so many not wanting to take the vaccine, but I've also seen where those that did take it has gotten the covid months after... What to do? Yes, I too have checked on you , but this is the first post since last one. :) loves and hugs my friend

my mum was diagnosed with covid a week ago, thank goodness she is double jabbed or I cant begin to think what state she would be in now:-( x

Let's see....the unvaccinated when exposed to the virus and infected carry the same viral load as the vaccinated when exposed and infected. The vaccine does not prevent infection it reduces the chances of being hospitalized,a respirator and death.

It of course is not 100%, which is why it is important to reach a high percentage of vaccinations so that the virus meets more "dead ends" Second, a vaccinated person can still carry the virus, especially in the upper respiratory tracks, however their spreading the virus is still reduced, even if not eliminated. This is in fact an ongoing study as the variants have changed some of these calculations thus the outcomes. For sure the vaccines will be improved, and even it is a major one, it is but one tool in the tool box to battle this virus. You are correct in that it greatly reduces the degree of illness.

Hi John my mum is double jabbed she has covid since last Tuesday but all things considered she is quite well, I do worry what the situation would have been had she not had the vaccine

Science most assuredly covers up and is not fool proof and is especially dangerous in the wrong hands or with the wrong motivations What is getting past most is there are hundreds of viruses out there, all evolving too especially in this world we have filled with super toxins but we are forgetting they exist because it’s only covid now …

Arthur, if you are willing to accept below grade vaccines because you have been coerced or scared, don’t call me a fool for knowing it can be better. I wear the mask because it’s non invasive but for anything else, i need to hear it’s better than 75% which was the best number i last read and is not even close to acceptable if you are forcing people to trust it works! The drug companies have never had it so easy they are having a field day

Without vaccines the odds of you even being here is small as your ancestors would have died. I repeat you have no medical background in this field, of course there are inconsistencies in the application of social distancing, as a society we will not get it perfect, especially because there are enough of you around to make that true. However, many jurisdictions adapt to what works with success

Masks work. You make it sound as if this is a bad thing. Here is a bad thing, being self centered and selfish and not caring about others. Insinuating mis-use due to covid is crazy, that is a separate issue, and there is bad people in all fields. Had their been no covid death certificates would still be falsified. How about this, many covid deaths have gone un-reported. why not mention that one?

History has shown that infants and children react best to vaccines and carry that memory in their immune systems best… my problem is the heavy reliance on drugs that has superseded the wholistic approach… the best way to combat microbes is to keep your health optimum and the world has more lifestyle related illnesses but now we are all hysterical and calling people fools and wearing masks and keeping apart until u board a plane and you are jam-packed like sardines There have been so many inconsistencies that are laughable.. how many hospital deaths are actually covid related and not due to secondary infections with super-bugs? Malpractice suits are no longer an issue - just write covid on the death certificate!

Lol i have a medical background and have seen first hand the corruption in it with big pharma gaining more and more control and the fda turning a blind eye..now govts are giving them free reign with little clinical trials Evil takes many forms and one is herding people with supposedly benign facts Polio and measles were eradicated with vaccinations on infants but influenza never was and now we shall have the same story with covid so everyone needs to boost their immune systems and toxins in our daily lives and lifestyles are what diminish our capacities to fight back I know three people who were vaccinated with boosters (all smokers too) and still fell ill so this vaccine isn’t working like a vaccine really should but it’s such a success! Until i can get a shot that takes off my mask and guarantees no more testing and 95% efficacy, i will stay a fool :)

What is wrong, is you have no medical background you are not a virologist. you have no context. Science covers up nothing, it learns and evolves, now in some cases man manipulates the facts, a good example the research paper claiming vaccines cause autism was completed debunked. Toxins is not a virus by the way, if you an expert on toxins please list them here, again such a lack of education. There are 1000's of viruses, vaccines have helped eradicate or control the worst ones. The only possible negative effect of vaccines is that they are the greatest invention of mankind to date, the only negative being, is due to their huge success it is a contributor to over population.

Thanks Jan, and you make another good point, when all the emergency room beds fill up with covid patients, often we cant handle other medical emergencies and some die, that should be counted in the stats as well!

Yes the quote is very true, so I was quite surprised to see evil here claiming to be good (twisting the words so to speak), thus why in the spirit of the quote I had to speak up!
