Tae Kwon Do, gymnastics, Swimming, piano and ballet, Music, baseball, fencing, An activity a day. Such a far cry from my youth - If mem'ry is my guide, When school was done, we had a snack And met our friends outside. On skates or bikes we got around; With jump ropes, balls or chalk, We entertained ourselves with no one Watching like a hawk. That freedom now does not exist In suburbs or the city And looking back, I have to say It really is a pity.

A disheartening pity. It would be nice to see society revert and revise to a more congenial time. :)

I had SO much freedom in the 60's and 70's running every which way all over my town. I even let my own kids do this in the 80's but I suppose in today's world it would be a no no!! Especially in your big city . We had it so good growing up and this poem shows that.

Years ago kids always played outside and didn't need any other exercise but now they never go out prefering to stay inside on computer games and the like. How times have changed. Tom
