I was a child of only seven years, adventurous, bold, I had no fears. Into the woods I would go after my Mom told me "No." But worth the spanking and the tears. These days the woods are worrisome, fear I may trip and land on my bum. Things live there I didn't see when I was young and carefree. With age, it's to caution I have succumb. { { { February 14th, 2016 } } }

A great read. You summed up It up so well. I will bring this poem to mind when fear threatens to narrow my life. Thx for the look through two lenses. Kathy

Yes, Lin...we have all been there done that...now we succumb to the price of maturity. I like how you imaged your 'two lenses'. Congrats on your win.

Thank you, Sandra. I had to use a telephoto lens to focus on 'way back when.' LOL

Nice but never give up that childlike curiousity, it's worth that step. DMB

yeah, being a kid, we're simple, we would believe any wonderful story, but any horrific one will only get us scared but we won't so much believe, that's we kids for you, only knows positive rather to negatives, better than adults, because at that stage the brain only calculate and comprehend the negatives...i wonder how that teary face would look like (i mean when you're young) lol...that's one well penned poem there, best of luck in the contest

Good job, Lin. I still love the woods and remember my 7 year old love of them - I think I would freak at night though. While thinking of this contest, I realized I still love most everything I did as a child, so I am still mind-searching. Yours makes me feel nostalgic as I'm certain the other entries will and I enjoyed it ... CayCay

I was such a Tom-boy, but to tell you a secret ~ I'm not afraid of the woods. I'd march right in there today! lol I'm happy to have brought back good memories for you, CayCay. Thanks.
