Explosive Relief

now that they've finally
ruled out cancer,
he staggers slow

in joyous unbelief,
stupefied by an
explosive relief;

                 and the length of days
                 that stretches ahead
                 promises him again

                 a skyey breadth
                 in the watery,
                 primeval union

                                       of the green mountains
                                       and the azure skies;
                                       in their dark depths

                                       and heady heights,
                                       there he swims,
                                       there  he flies!
