EXPLORING NATURE

Written: October 23, 2025 for contest WANDERING WAYFARER by: Nette Onclaud — 44 Syllables ************** I escaped the city's strange grasp Sleek dark spires loom and clasp. Swirling cloud of a stoic hue, A velvet breeze that I once knew. At the zenith, Earth spread vast, No masks or veils to cloak the past— just hollow roots to cast

Escaping from the city's dark clasp and getting into earth's vast space is always pleasurable and offers a greater sense of freedom. A wonderful composition with beautiful rhyming.

oustanding lines and rhyme scheme. We, too, left the 'city' Dallas and now live in an exurb...quaint and peaceful -- we found that 'velvet breeze'

This poem successfully captures a yearning for freedom and authenticity, using strong visual and tactile imagery to map an emotional journey. It leaves the reader with a poignant tension: the escape is accomplished, the horizon opened — yet the “hollow roots” remind us that origin, identity, and past cannot simply be abandoned. The poem works as both a departure and a confrontation.

I enjoyed reading your wonderful "EXPLORING NATURE" write. Yes, one needs to get out of the city from time to time. "Good Luck" We both did this one. Have a wonderful day writing away..............
