Experiencing Change

I used to be known as an empty shell
Soon to fall into an eternal hell
Shattered, broken, scattered about
Like someone's litter left behind

I used to be known as an empty hole
Something everyone would step over and ignore
Cold, alone, tired of wandering about
Like a lost child in the dark

I used to be known as a numbness
A sickening, emotionless feeling
Stiff, unchanged, bearing no thoughts of happiness

And then I met you
Everything changed and became unknown
I got scared and panicked
And ran away as much as I could
But then you were still there with open arms
And I reluctantly leaped into them
Still scared and unsure but feeling something different
Something that I had never experienced
Something that changed me and I welcomed it

As time went on I changed more and more
I started to feel loved, wanted, safe, and warm
That was when I said I loved you
Because at last I felt true love for you and myself
And it felt and feels wonderful
And I know that I will always
And forever love you
And finally I feel whole
