Exile

I live in exile
Trapped inside my brain
Beating on the walls
To be let out,
But I’ve locked myself in here for good
I’ve exiled myself
Doomed to never speak
Because it won’t matter
It never mattered.
Sometimes it’s better to live amongst your thoughts
But the demons get loud if you stay too long.
Sometimes I want to leave my brain,
Remove the tape covering my lips,
Sometimes it seems like screaming
Just so I could hear my voice again
Could be worth the consequences,
But once you make your brain
Your only home,
You’re trapped,
Exiled from the land of the living.
