Exercise Becomes Me

I once knew a poet named Cecile
Call her skinny and hear her spiel
   I'm petite with small bones
I have fat and rolls she groans
If I called you names how'd you feel

So she decided things had to change
Lifting weights at first felt strange
      Her trainer pushed gently
         Encouraged intently
  Her life she happily rearranged

Now building bone density and power
Her muscles sprouting like a flower
        Strength is now her friend
      Workouts are now her trend
  It takes discipline and willpower

No longer thin rather lean and fit
Liking the changes she does admit
         Active body and mind
        Healthy diet combined
   This lifestyle she'll never quit

That’s wonderful Cecil, I envy energetic women like that. I’ve always wanted to go to the gym, but I’m always afraid of people judging me. So I just go on run/walk whenever I can. Lol! Kudos to you and more power to you :)

Cecilia, I just renewed my membership at the Fitness Center a month ago and I can already tell a difference. Invigorating walks of 2 miles on the treadmill, followed by 2 miles on the bike, and a few reps on the "ab-slayer" is making this old Georgia Boy feel youthful again!

Everybody is asking about you, so I am also curious, how are you now? And especially how are you coping after your sister's death? I know it is pretty hard but still we must not forget that our lives never stop and even if we don't have a desire to live, life finds a new purpose, working out, going to gym, well I am way thinner than a average guy, but never mind, they give you such a boring diet, where as I love spicy foods, so so far I haven't joined it neither planning to do so

I still have moments of profound sadness, losing both my mom and sister a year apart has been heartbreaking. But I have a lot to live for, I have 3 sons and a grand daughter, life does go on. Working out relieves stress, plus it keeps me strong for my job, I work in a nursing home.

Hi Flo, been a really tough year (read my reply above this one} Yes I'm still working out, it took a backseat for awhile, due to circumstances, but at it again, a great stress reducer. Why aren't you working out?

Hi Cecilia! A new lifestyle is usually brought about by a fresh outlook on life. Surmounting problems and hard times could be one of the main positive factors. Enjoyed this set of lovely limericks. Pleased to see you posting again. Regards // paul

Thanks Authur. LOL... the coffee (never drank) and donuts (sugar allergy) makes me not a good Tim Hortons customer, but I do buy occasional donut for the kids.

I love weight lifting. Sadly, for me it puts ON weight, which I do not need but at least I am more fit and the weight is from muscle not fat. Congrats to you for taking up this GREAT way to increase your health.

Thank you Jan. When I started I could barely do 5 pushups on my knees, now up to 3 sets of 20 on my feet and can do a few on one leg, liking my new found strength, helping enormously with my job but still dislike pushups, lol. Hugs
