Excessive Casualness

A tender kiss upon the brow
has precious little meaning now.
When fornication simply states
a need for pleasure without delay.

AWESOME!!! This is so true! Morality has just gone down. There is no "courting" anymore, chivalry. It's sad, the romance and build up that once made a relationship beautiful and sweet has gone. Love doesn't hold as much meaning anymore the way people throw it around nowadays.

It is sad! I've never been in a relationship myself, but most everyone I've met has had multiple relationships as well as "hook ups". It is somewhat discouraging to even attempt putting myself in that mess!

A not so subtle but yet subtle message here. You said a lot with just a four lines.

I notice a lot of people nowadays can't differentiate between "love" and "lust". They are not the same thing and exist for different purposes. To call them both the same degrades the inherent meaning of either.

Theres so much obsession with sex these days that most people tend to forget about what real love is all about it. We got a very disposable society too even when it comes to relatonships. Very sad indeed! That's why so many divorces and families torn apart. Well expressed poem, Tim! Cheers! :) Xxxxx D.

You hit the nail on the head! It's a bit of a raunchy comedy but you should watch the movie The 40 Year Old Virgin... it expresses those feelings to a tee, and shows how complex and stressful relationships get when sex is the number one priority.

Good observation, Timothy ...yes making love 'at' someone rather than to them really ...a total difference.

This is SO good. It is a big pet peeve of mine, how casual the world has become with something that should be taken much more seriously. Awesome, Timothy.

As humans we obviously desire it... but ALSO as humans we can choose to be less carnal about it.

A kiss upon the brow, however, might not hold much meaning to the person that has less "tender" intentions. Thanks for the visit, my friend!
