Examination of Conscience

I make a self-inspection of my sinful soul, I’m sincerely sorry for all my failings. Me, a common sinner, try to be in control Of my thoughts, and actions, and words, and feelings. Like a poison, my sins get into my bloodstream So my confession seems to be the best cleansing To give me hope and warm me up like a sunbeam. Should I expect a strong punishment for sinning? In my garden the most beautiful flowers Are overwhelmed by all my sins – prickly weeds. But I belong to the pious and obedient sinners Who try to placate God’s anger doing good deeds. My sincere examination of conscience – The quiet time of the unique contemplation When I’m allowed to be one of stray lost lambs Who shudder to think of eternal damnation…
