Evening Song

taste
            the wine of evening
A bittersweet wine
           since it has the
  flavor of mortality
We dreamed last
night
    that for a brief autumn
moment
            it seemed as if the
                   chains were broken
Yes, we have moved into
                         the shadows
Yet we still remember
   Better, warmer days
We still remember
                              the dance of
   summer
Perhaps the winter will
                  conquer us
                           icy winds
                    defeat our hopes
    But caught in between
    we still emit
     a phosphorescent glow
lighting up the city
                  which we call home
