Evening Falls With Distant Thunder
Evening falls with distant thunder,
Dark clouds roll in with a vengeance
As I pull my patio chairs under cover,
Amidst the twinkling lights of past bbqs,
Now distant memories of friends gathered
For wine, sumptuous meals, music and romance.
Summer moved in with promising warmth,
Long lazy days and longer humid nights,
And suddenly left quickly, no farewells.
September arose with a hint of what was,
Appeared with cooler days and shorter nights.
I prepare for the cold winter and darkness,
Cozy evenings gazing upon flames and warmth
Of crackling logs in my fireplace, soft music,
Candlelight dinners with loved ones.
Another year has come and gone....
