Even the Firefly

Maverick Free verse contest While moonbeams glow and cast shadow on bedroom walls— Lovers doing their thing while the cradle mocks their every move, empty for the time being. I grasp the situation vividly and firm in the grip of frustration. Not knowing if the meaning of life is life’s meaning or life’s doings. I must say that life’s doings are more pleasurable in the heat of the moment than discourse on the matter of intercourse. The latter usually a prelude to the former. The lightning bug however fails to see the value of discourse. Opting instead to simply fire off those juices in it’s belly enticing the female to a pleasurable evening. Then again, perhaps all that winking and blinking is just foreplay, just waiting for the nod. It must be pleasurable, in that over 2000 specie of the flying lights live among us. How is it that the master plan thinks of everything. It brings order out of chaos. Is it the master plan or the Master’s plan. Your call- - ! For John's "maverick free verse" contest.

Brilliant comparison of how we view things to the way the firefly lives as nature intended, Charles. Congratulations on your win in the contest. Love, Carolyn
