Heya Jan, I do like to take the more literal interpretation sometimes, but it’s usually a bit darker lol! Cheers David

Dear David, A beautiful and soulful tanka this is, i love the opening lines especially “ as the light rises ephemeral and breathless“ truly captivating! It may be short but it definitely is worth the placement as it left my heart full! So divine and ethereal! Pleasure reading your work. Thank you for supporting my contest, congratulations

Ethereal lanterns hold symbolic meaning, Ramadan, weddings etc. fired off into the sky. I admire your symbolic new beginnings meaning. Pleasing words and awe images! Petit & pretty poem. gl. ~Anaya

Thanks Anaya, thought I was onto something here, but probably too short for Ink, but I’m happy with my little placement nonetheless, cheers David

I learnt a new word 'ephemeral' - definitely one for my vocabulary if I can learn to pronounce it. Beautiful imagery in this one David - good luck for the contest

I’m sure you of all people will put ephemeral to very good use Dilly, (eff-em-er-al works for me) it’s all around us, only not for long, but can leave an indelible mark on our psyche, thanks so much, cheers David

Every new beginning leaves it's mark on us, it can never be changed, a lot said in a few lines David. Best of luck in the contest and enjoy your weekend. Tom

Indeed Tom it’s all about special moments, they pass so fast yet stay with us forever, just like the fleeting lantern when released into the sky, thank you so much, a storm over here at the moment, hopefully tomorrow will be calmer, have a great weekend, cheers David
