Eternal Sacrifice
I.
I had the son for a sacrifice
Proffered in faith and joined to love
My covenant with him is eternal, sealed by his blood
And his fire consumes what he pleases
Though the waters be deep as the abyss,
they sink not his foundation
Though death be black as night
It dims not his light
For he is eternal
The chief high priest and king of life
The first born from the dead
He was my sacrifice
II.
I am a sacrifice
Laid by the cornerstone
Drenched in blood that atones
I know the way to the father of all spirits
I have the sought revival
And if men thirst, there's a fount I can show
One with great fire in his bones who had gone below
To the very end of the end, even hell
Setting bond men free from sin's cell
He's a liberator, the very resurrection
All roads lead toward him, crooked and straight
From him, there's no escape
For he is the gate and the keeper,
A molder, holder of the keys of life and death
He is a helper, your answer to fervent prayers
Your salvation to be treasured above shine and acres
III.
I know the portal through which all stars must come and go
It dwells on that old path where all sojourners must pass
It's pull none can resist and it's call none can ignore
I know a fountain set out on rocky hills, ever lasting
Moated by a scented garden valley of olive groves
He cries your tears and pleads your causes
He dies your deaths and wins your wars
He bears your crosses and whips as the truth
He is a sacrifice
IV.
His luscious fruit trees are like pearls colored as the rainbow
Exceedingly blessed by his heavens at high noon when they weep buckets
Gracing the realms their sterling roots possess
And though few leaves be fated to fall like giants caught in quick sand
In grief and bloodshed, laid on their backs
He stays eternal, engraved with his seals as creator
He is who he is, whatever he pleases and I tell you
He is eternal, a king forever
The way, the truth and the life
He is a sacrifice
V.
Knowing man's thoughts and conversations
He hid secrets, kept them away from the sons of earthen nations
Entombed where only his visions can take vessels he chooses to honor
His sheep are soaked in glad oil
And their cups overflow with blessings
Their joy shall never cease for so long as he is eternal
Their feet are guided by his light
Away from vanity's dangers,
Their hearts will he sustain by the wealth of his life
Fall for the spirit of his love, for he is our eternal sacrifice
