Essence

their eyes
they flutter
or is it propel
either way
a subtle prelude
to a kiss out of sync

their conversation
an amalgamation
of giggles and smiles
more telepathy
between hearts
than anything else

their legs
entwined like shoestrings
on a pair of old sneakers
seem to imply
the mating ritual
of hoverflies

Richard, you describe these precious moments so poetically.. it brings me back to my youth when passion's new frontiers were yet unexplored.. Beautiful poetry with wonderful imagery, I especially love the first two lines.. Warmest wishes always my frien.. ~Susan

This poem always seemed too simple to me yet I never rewrote it. What a confused poet I am. Thanks Susan for all your support and kind words...……………..peace!
