Escape

I see it,
The glimmer of hope in the distance,
Beckoning me to follow.
So long the chains of despair and helplessness have bound me,
My mind making me a prisoner from within.
Now there is a crack in the wall and it's crumbling,
Escape is in reach.
Nothing can stop me except my own fear.
I will claw my way through the darkness,
And into the light.
Onwards and upwards,
To new beginnings and freedom,
No longer condemned to a life of anxiety,
And loneliness.
I will finally be me.
