There are no winners in war when so many innocent people lose their lives, so many babies do not get a chance to live.  Please do not comment about any current wars on here, as this is a peom about all wars, not any specific ones...

Anacreontic verse is an Ancient Greek lyrical form, consisting of 20- to 30-line poems with three to five syllables per line. Developed by 6th century B.C. poet Anacreon. A form that emerged during the height of the dramatic, musical, artistic, and poetic culture. The poems revolved around themes of love, infatuation, revelry, festivals, and observations of everyday life.

As bombs blow at night, smoke fills hazy skies. Children cry from fear - broken toys add angst. Fathers helpless to protect their blood, embrace them tight. Mothers give birth but their new-borns struggle to breathe. Their screams fall silent, against a backdrop of rocket attacks. The wise ones say time can break your heart, time can heal your pain, but what hope lies under the rubble? Dead bodies can't speak, so leaders debate what is wrong and what is right. War is nothing, but hidden agendas. Why aren't we all born equal to justice, why one life has less worth than another. An industry of profit always wins.

This is very well said. Perhaps it's the constant imbalance between the heart and the ego which is the cause of all our conflicts. Enjoyed reading and thanks for posting it.

Very true. "The People" did not want or start these wars. It is those who got the taste of corrupting power, whose own children are not sent in. Speaking of profit (besides the War Defense Contractors and their mouthpieces), how each president is much wealthier leaving office than when they got into office. "Families helpless against the warpigs in stampedous gore" ...continued (like my longwinded poems lol)

...You said... "...Dead bodies can't speak, so leaders debate what is wrong and what is right. War is nothing, but hidden agendas. Why aren't we all born equal to justice, why one life has less worth than another. An industry of profit always wins." Sad when pleasure of lifestyle or pride is greater than human life.

you so poignantly have expressed the horrors of wars...so true....in the end no one ends. Too many losses, too high a price for my tastes. I found these lines insightful, and they resonated with me: War is nothing, but hidden agendas. Why aren't we all born equal to justice, why one life has less worth than another. An industry of profit always wins. I could go on -- your poems are consistently well written filled with your poetic voice and unique creativity. Have a splendid day, Sara

So tragic are wars, they devastate humanity. --but what hope lies under the rubble? Dead bodies can't speak--well said my friend.

Excellent poetic commentary on the folly, motives, and devastation left behind. Wars will only end when the Prince of Peace wages the final war against all warmongers and removes them from the planet - permanently Psalm 37:10,11

So true and so well said. Sad reality from the very beginning of time. Your last line sums it up very well. And it breaks my heart to think of those who have been or are in this situation. War is nothing but hidden agendas, so true, and in a world that is so selfish and cares so little about those affected we can be kind and spread light to all when we can. I have no words for all that you’ve written here, but that, nobody cares and one can only wish, that this world will be more peaceful. Fave!
