Equal In the Night

By day, it is easy To see any sort of colour To assign each race A value and a favour. Fair ones they say Are entitled and the best. So those who are dark— Are they worse than the rest? And we brown-skinned Asians Are we misfits and setbacks? And what of pale-haired ones, In smarts do they lack? But wait for the sun to set, And for the moon to rise— As the Day Star goes to sleep, Go, open your eyes. In the hush of twilight, At the mercy of the beasts, All are human at heart And brothers at the least. Day time, however warm, Has favoured some to shine bright. But to the end of existence, We are equal in the night.
