Tree of Life
It was only yesterday,
Amid the breathless moments
When time stood still,
And my heart’s prayers were echoes
On the mountains,
Where I live, amid the oaks
Pines so gentle and melancholic rains,
Peaceful promises of praise,
Coloring the earth in mystical songs,
Blessings poured from the wind
And answers to what might be, reasons
Beneath the light that remembers
It was a tree…
Where God said His last words,
“it is finished” resonated
On the hills, amid the trembling hearts
Who stood in the glowing aftermath
Of His words, His presence
Resting against the backdrop of a tree,
This tree…
Resembling the story that would remember me,
Tell me, finally, to seek
To believe, to see…
The tree of life, on a wind blown hillside
Where mystical dreams caressed the moments
And the still, cool words of God
Silenced the spirit who couldn’t understand
When the world grew still,
God’s voice was there, on that hill
Restoring the world as life would end,
But, then, the tree knew….
In His hands, was a promise
That spoke words of spirit,
His spirit hung on that tree,
The Tree of Life…. Writing a story
That would reveal God’s gift
To you and me, the gift of life
Eternally free… because He hung on a tree
And I finally see… that tree
Is the Tree of Life, rooted in grace
With branches of faith
And leaves that embrace, like love
In this place, where God surely saves.
