Enough, and Not Enough
It was enough that you were honest,
that you dared to tell me the truth to my face.
Because today you love me,
and tomorrow you leave.
And how am I supposed to face that?
If it was enough that you held me,
because relationships are made of two,
not of one.
Who am I to you?
Do you like me?
My heart says yes,
but my reason says no.
Which one am I supposed to listen to?
It is not enough for you to stay silent
and only nod with your eyes.
It is not enough for you to love me today
and disappear tomorrow.
It is not enough for you to sing me serenades.
Your damn words of love are not enough.
It was only enough that you stayed,
that you told me the truth to my face.
Just for once.
Once.
Without detours.
Without excuses.
Without interruptions.
Without melodrama.
Just you and me.
