Engage - Enrage

Engage.

        Go back to basic
 conversation, calm and cool
     [No need for backchat]

               Enrage.

     Hurt heart hot with rage.
     [encapsulated deafness]
      Left without true peace.

A wise friend recently said to me: "Trying to reason with an enraged person, only stokes them up more. Engaging them in conversation, to try and calm them down, causes enragement." Hear what they have to say, they have a reason for being angry. There's "a time to be silent and a time to speak. " (This is a repost.)

Psalms 37:8; James 2:13. - In general situations.
Colossians 3:19; 1Peter 3:4. - In marriage.
Genesis 4:5 -7; Leviticus 19:16 - 18. James 1:19,20. -Your fellowman" and your "brother."

There's another bible proverbs that says wisely: Do not pull a mad dog's tail, or something to that effect. Trying to put out anger with anger is no better trying to put out fire with fire. Thank you for enjoying my humor. Best to you in your writing endeavors. / M

Is it this one? "A man getting into a dispute that does not belong to him is a man grabbing a passing dog by the tail." Proverbs 26:17. You are right, Maurice- cant fight fire with fire. Better to stay calm and peacable. Anger causes someone to lose their ability to reason. I appreciate your visit, and adding value with your comment! Warm regards, ~~Aqua M~~

Lovely to have you here for a visit and comment, Harry- deeply appreciated! And knowing you are a wise soul, I can say this: I am at that stage in my life where I have no need to be contentious-it is a symptom of deep unhappiness. We can openly express ourselves in poetry, without expecting other human beings to be the "same" as us. And in other areas of life, calmness does wonders to create peace, at least, within ourselves.

Hello Aqua Marine, it is hard to speak to an angry, because they scream. it is best to wait for them to calm down, the speak to them. Hav a nice day my friend.

Hi, Darlene, yes, you are right, and that can be a very frightening to experience! Its better to say nothing, and resolve the problem when you're both calm and thinking straight. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment and welcome visit! ((Warm Hugs))~~AquaM~~

Usually when someone is enraged it is due to sadness. We learn in counseling to never ask "why are you mad?" but to ask "why are you sad?" This dissipates a lot of the anger.

I was reminded of this: "The insight of a man certainly slows down his anger, and it is beauty on his part to overlook an offense." Proverbs 19:11. Warm regards, ~~Aqua ~~

Thank you so much for your visit, and taking precious time to comment, SO! Yes, we often forget to get perspective on how the "other side" sees things. "Insight" is a two way action. By looking into the reasons someone is angry with us, or hurts us, we gain discernment. I think about what Jesus said to God about the Roman soldiers who executed him: "Forgive them, they don't know what they are doing..." Of course, abuse is not"okay" and often needs justice, but other times, we have the humane choice to just " let it go.." Its not a weakness to do so. ((Hugs))~~Aqua~~

An expressive pair of senryu; both topics and a scattering of alliteration are worthy of notice. Your footnotes are also appreciated. ~ Warm regards // paul

I do appreciate your visit and comments, Paul- deeply respected! Our inner creativity often has external prompts, founded on design or wisdom, or thinking "beyond" ourselves. I like to acknowledge that I am an avid student, willing to learn from higher wisdom, not my own. It works, for humans have not changed much in what we need. Love, respect, freedom of choice, and learning. ~~Aqua~~
