End of the Rainbow

Rainbows have always intrigued me
It wasn't until I was grown
when I had actually found out why.
I walked upon it one afternoon
After a short mid summer rain
Id finally found what is
at a rainbows end and it was
beyond anything I could
had ever imagined.
I stood there stunned,
Wide-eyed and slack jawed
I couldn't even form a single word.
I couldn't believe what
my eyes were showing me.
There before me were millions of
doorways to other worlds,
Small glimpses into
these other realms,
So many lands and so diverse.
I began to wonder what would happen
If I were to step through
One of these doorways
into another world.
As I took my first step
into the rainbows end
A warm energy surrounded me
It had such beautiful colors,
and made me feel comforted
That kind of comfort that comes
from your mothers embrace.
I stepped through
the nearest doorway,
and the ground began to shake,
The wind let out a
deafening growl.
Frightened, I looked around me
And saw a funnel descend
from the clouds.
This wasn't a normal tornado,
nothing I'd ever seen before.
It's colors glowed and brightened,
as the spout and the rainbow collided.
My feet were lifted up off of the ground
And I was carried away.
I thought for sure that my life was over,
I thought maybe I should begin to pray.
When suddenly there came a large flash,
and then an even louder crash rang out
And then I was on my
feet again firmly upon the
Pinkish grass that Im sure
wasn't there before.
I scanned the horizon
amazed by its beauty
And before I could blink twice or
a single thought could form.
I was back where I started
and then the rainbow was gone.
Now every time I see a rainbow reaching
Across the sky I go back to that moment,
that instant I spent in a whole other world.
