They kill a body and to prison go
Behind the bars with time they have to pay
A life that’s deadened with a life exchanged
So law and justice see the light of day

But tell me what of those who kill the heart
Who murder love and glibly walk on by
Incarceration is not their reward
The weight of guilt to bear, they do deny

A greater crime than this is yet to be
To kill a heart and form the living dead
Someone who walks and talks but is not real
Who shoots away the day and weeps in bed

Imprisoned they should be who now walk free
A murdered heart, a greater crime must be!

Sad but beautiful poem Eileen. A broken heart will never truly mend, but find the right love and it will forever spin:) Loved this Eileen. Hugs Janet

Heartbreakers most often than not walk away scot free, leaving in their wake tears and pain.....but not justice! You did a great job with this expressive sonnet and the message is delivered loud and clear. hugs // paul

Thanks for your visit to my Prison poem, Paul. Perhaps some hearts need to be more resilient...I don't know. I liked to think that justice will be served to those who break hearts...I must be careful what I wish for...Love having you visit. :)

I've known this suffering too Eileen, but I knew that if the love was real, our souls would live to heal...and so it has become the truth, love built for life can never be murdered. I'mhumbled by this brilliant poem of a heart seeking justice...can I give you 1st place again...for Love Justice...J.A.B.

Hi Eileen, it is a great write. Can you kill a heart by accident without realising, I wonder? And if so would the punishment still be the same as the heart is still just as dead. Love Shane xxx

I accept the compliment gladly, Shane. Please...resurrect your heart. It can be done. Don't enshroud yourself....Fight another day. I know it's easy to say...I sometimes feel like throwing in the towel...but no. We must fight on. Thanks for your lovely comments on my poems. I so appreciate it. Hugs

Not in the least would i call you a drama queen. Posiibly the Queen of seduction, and that is meant as a compliment. The unfortunate truth is what was left of my heart did die its final death in these last four months. The little pills and talks from my psychologists keep me moving i don't really know what for though. However my poor little ticker i think i broke myself and i have definitly not got away with it. and like your poem to bloom in red flame i shall retreat and enshroud myself with the trappings of normality not that i think there is much hope sensuality giving me a call. It is a fab poem you wrote. love Shane xxx

Neglect would do that...Yes, Shane. I guess you can. Unfortunately...heartbreakers usually get away with it. That's the sad part. Thanks for the visit...Hope you aren't part of the walking dead. ;) I have another write on this one...My Little Heart...I think I called it. The ending line is..."I'm part of the walking dead...heartless inside." Oh...I am the drama queen!

It seems to me they are getting away with murder...I abhor people who have no consideration for another's feelings...hugs Tim

Over flowing would our prisons be . . . many scarred hearts . . . your words give witness to this crime . . . and a warning to the unsuspecting heart.

David...always good to have you here...Thank you for visiting me. I ride the highs and lows of my life...but I never forget...a kindness...or an intended hurt. That's me....You should read my poem, There Must be Punishment. I wrote it several months ago...It's on this theme as well. http://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/there_must_be_a_punishment_437902..This one is along the lines that punishment should be meted out to those who reject others. I'm quite the extremist. Anyway...thanks for coming here. Hugs

Have the last two poems been reintroduced? I seem to recollect them both. I am glad you use your own name now.

Yes Eileen..Murder and abuse have many faces..Their scariest are mental and heart abuse...But those who are guilty of hurting the other..Do they really find happiness and peace?I wonder. A deep and profound message Eileen.I love the way you give a voice to those who die through silence..Awesome

In this world, they seem to do. But a day of reckoning is coming...for all of us. I know I've also hurt people. It is when the hurt is intentional...that is what makes it most painful. Thanks for the visit, Hon. Sending you hugs.
