Empty House

There is an empty house, I pass
When ever I travel this way
Today, I paused just to think about
The home the house once might have been
There might have been a family
Living within those lonely walls
Laughter rang with children’s voices
In happy scenes of yesterday
A granny may have been the one
Who occupied the bungalow
Waiting for family to come
To visit and to share her meal
Perhaps it was a younger pair
Lovers in newlywedded bliss
Playing house during that first year
Until the baby made them three
Now that little house stands empty
Where happiness once thrived within
What would it take to fix it up
So love could live there once again
