After the assassination of Julius Caesar a new emperor came to the throne , Gaius Tommaso .

He ruled peacefully for forty years in 45 BC and was responsible for ending the cruel arena games and instead introduced pancake racing,  sack racing and cheese rolling that formed the basis of what is now the modern Olympics games.

Torture and crucifixion's were outlawed and instead lawbreakers were subjected to feather tickling on the soles of their feet and armpits.

Needless to say crime and murder became a thing of the past.

Hail the Emperor Gauis Tommaso In his gold chariot with a white horse Popular with Romans who loved him so For bringing in lax laws he did enforce. He freed all the slaves and ended the games Twelve senator's plotted to overthrow A spy in the senate provided names Who Gauis Tommaso did get to know. Held one last games and in the arena Put the traitors who protested and cried With six starved lions and a hyena Who showed no mercy until they all died . His reign continued for forty more years Elysium beckoned, Rome shed many tears.
Written 29th June 2019. You've probably guessed that this is a work of fiction.

Thanks Lindsay, you're right, they loved the blood and gore but many cultures at that time were the same. Tom

Great story telling Tom. I almost said again...you are a great teacher of history as you have filled me with more knowledge that I never knew. Then, I read that this is fictional (lol). You are still a great teacher to me though. Great imagination and write. ~Charlie

Well written my friend, Tom, but for history's clarity wasn't the adaptive son of Julius Caesar, Augustus that became emperor from 27 BC -14 AD after the death of Marc Antony and Cleopatra? I thin he was. As far as Olympic games are concerned , I think it was and is Greek affair since the first recorded Olympic games in 776 BC! Romans participated in the Olympic games and Nero once won...all the events! Just putting the record straight in case one is interested! I hope you have great time!

Haha, I didn't fool you Demetrious, it was just a bit of fun lol. Did you see the pic of Emperor Tommaso ?. Of course your facts are spot on, The Roman empire was built on cruelty and blood, doubt if they would have used feathers lol. Tom

You gave your Emperor away when you mentioned that he punished criminals by tickling their feet and hands with a feather! But such an amazing write Tom this needed to be a win in a contest with such an awesome imagination that you have - tickled pink! Hugs, Jennifer.
