Maureen, yes too many people have no idea what others go through. That detachment allows more bad to occur. Empathy is a pillar of democracy along with honor, fairness, and self-control. All the qualities missing from our current leadership in the US.

Hard to fathom Maureen, I understand people can become desensitised to suffering in times of war, but to be told it’s a sin to show empathy, sounds like a throwback to the dark ages of enlightenment! A no holds barred Senryu, final line sums it up perfectly, cheers David
