Notes About The Poem

Emotions Wasted in Pouring Rain

Drenched in pouring rain
With no parasol, but just a frilled hat
To cover her head,
With a bouquet of delicate golden blooms
Clasped firmly in hands, in the dusk
She waded through the rain swept avenue,
Her heart thumping in anticipation.

But he brushed past her, indifferent.
The moon stood behind,
Teasing her on her squashed romance.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts inspired by the painting. I appreciate the artwork whether you chose it or if the contest sponsor chose it. It reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara K

Brilliant interpretation of that picture. Could easily imagine what's going on. Best for a win.
