Emma Wiggs

Emma contracted a virus in Australia,
When she was on a gap year, aged 18,
Which paralysed her legs. Her future
Job was unchanged: a PE teacher mean.

She took up the sport sitting volleyball,
Which she played at London’s Games,
But after that needed more, to give all,
So she began canoeing with high aims.

She’s from Derbyshire, the East Midlands,
And was born on the 14th of June in 1980;
In 2014 at the ICF Worlds, Moscow’s lands,
She won the gold for the 200 metre sprays.

At those same Championships she also won,
The K1 200m TA event taking home the gold,
And 2016, the Worlds in Milan, again she won
Gold, and then in Germany, another gold hold.
