Elect John G. S.

John Givea Shiddyoleshuck.
Orated a speech from upon his truck,
“Elect me not because I’m the best,
But because I’ve trashed all the rest,
In short I’ve said they suck“.

“You see there’ve been studies done,
That we winning politicians run,
Not on our records alone,
Or else we’d all be stoned
Or laughed at just for fun.”

“These people studies seem to flirt,
With slander and slinging dirt
As ways to get elected,
Instead of being rejected,
And forced to go out and work.”

I love this! We have just been through an election here in Alabama and it was the dirtiest I've ever seen. You described it so well in your poem. Thanks for sharing. Elton

This should be a song lyric. Really. It could be, but America seems to have lost that ability to write different songs, novelty songs like the GREAT songwriters used to do. But it has the cadence for it and it is sarcastic and frank. Best wishes to you, Robert, from Gerard.

This Limerick shows a true visual of these politicians Robert. There are way too many offices of government that are not needed. I got a good laugh from your write. Agape, Moses

Great name. Did you invent it? Read the tabloids, listen to the media on T.V., listen to professional announcers with their dramatics and music with a cerebral shovel. Love, DAve

Interesting work..Enjoyed the humor..Election politics turns me off to the whole process..It need to be outlawed...Maybe make the politician who want to win find something good to say about there opponent..Or not allow them to be on radio and tv but have to get out and go door to door or mail each potential voter a letter explaining they qualifications and what they plan to do..Sara
